EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS 2025

Every year in the month of May, the event promoted by the Ministry of Culture returns to promote knowledge of European cultural heritage and identity.
Since 2005 it has simultaneously involved museums from all over Europe with the aim of promoting European cultural identity in all the countries of the Union.

The Civic Museums of Piacenza will participate with a special opening from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am (last admission at 11:00 pm) and with the following activities and guided tours:

PREHISTORIC NIGHT
Inside the Prehistoric Section of the museum, some “narrative points” will be reconstructed where an archaeologist will demonstrate the lighting of fire, the chipping of stone, the functioning of primitive musical instruments and the use of other objects reproduced on the model of the originals exhibited in the showcase. In the laboratory, participants will dedicate themselves to the preparation of natural ochres that, once ground, will be used in the stone painting laboratory, to feel like true sapiens artists.

Age range and times: from 4 to 12 years old (without companions from 7 years old and up)
1st shift from 8.15pm to 9.45pm:
2nd shift from 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm:

A FABULOUS BESTIARY!
Oxen, lambs, snakes, doves, dogs, horses…there are so many animals more or less “hidden” in the paintings of Palazzo Farnese. Equipped with a bright torch, on the special opening evening of the Museum, we will go to discover the numerous animals painted by artists of the Renaissance and the Modern era. We will thus get to know important painters such as Lanfranco, Merano, Nuvolone and, above all, Gaspare Landi from Piacenza. In the laboratory, each child, with imagination and creativity, will give life to their own personal bestiary by building a small booklet/notebook in which to draw the animals that most struck them during the visit.

Age range and times:
Children from 6 to 10 years old
1st shift from 8.15pm to 9.45pm
2nd shift from 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm
