The painting appears to draw inspiration from the work of the Florentine artist Rossello di Jacopo di Francesco, both in its luminous and refined colour palette and in the Gothic style of its lines – characteristics of his artistic milieu, which was dominated by the strong personality of Lorenzo Monaco. Once again, we find a Madonna and Child depicted on a larger scale than the angels and saints. The latter are recognisable by their attributes (the Gospel for Saint Anthony and the knife, symbol of his martyrdom, for Saint Bartholomew). The angels hold a large decorated drape behind the Madonna and Child, which makes the group stand out and sets it apart from the golden background that can be glimpsed in the background.
